The International 14 is a development class of boat built to a basic set of rules that allows for innovation, the boats are 14 feet long and six feet wide. Fourteens have evolved from the beautiful wooden hulls of the 1920s to the carbon fiber machines of today with many of the innovations in the 14 class now mainstream in other classes. Modern boats have twin trapezes, asymmetric spinnakers, hydrofoils on the rudder and capable of speeds up to 14 knots up wind and 30 knots downwind.
